Since the return of Spring, everyone’s been looking for great outdoor spaces for enjoying the sun. Paris is full of places with different vibes where you can meet up for a drink. Discover where to go to relax on an outdoor patio or go up high to enjoy a rooftop view.

 

Where can you enjoy a drink on an outdoor patio?

– The Gravity Bar –

 

This is one of the places you absolutely must discover if you’re looking for a cocktail bar along the Canal Saint-Martin. This place has a chic Scandinavian-inspired decor. The setting is enhanced by light wooden furnishings, where people meet up with friends at the end of the day. The cocktail menu offers drinks with names like “Apensanteur”, “Exaltation” or “Fruit du Passé”, starting at 12€. If you can’t tell what’s in the drink by its name, the menu specifies the ingredients of each cocktail as well as the size of the glass. And to go with its drinks, The Gravity Bar offers snacks starting at 10€.

– Le Brussels Beer Project Canal – 

 

Another must-do near the Canal Saint-Martin, the BBP Canal is a delight for beer lovers. Here, you have the choice between 26 tap beers, available at 8€ a pint and 4.50€ for a half-pint. Regulars come to enjoy the Babylone, Jungle Joy, Delta IPA or Wunder Lager. Be sure and  try the limited-edition creations for a change of pace. Then have a seat on the grey benches to better enjoy the house specialties. The BBP’s best feature is its cozy outdoor patio that can accommodate more than 60 people. You can stop in any day of the week. The establishment is open till midnight on Sundays and Wednesdays, and till 2:00 am Thursday through Saturday.

 

– La Fontaine de Belleville –

 

This bistro-style establishment in the 10th arrondissement is known mainly for its roasted Brûlerie de Belleville coffee and its Sunday brunch. But when it’s time for an aperitif, people stop in specifically for their homemade beers. The menu is well suited for pleasing all palates. Beverages prices range between 11 and 20€. As far as its decor, the Fontaine de Belleville has a cozy feel with beautiful hand-painted tables. The café-bar is open from Thursday to Sunday till midnight. On Saturdays, the café-bar is the meeting place for jazz lovers to enjoy weekly concerts from 4:30 to 7:30 pm.

– La Sardine –

 

Colorful decor, an eclectic mix of furnishings and a quiet atmosphere in the heart of Paris: this is what La Sardine offers in the 10th arrondissement. Have a seat on the patio overlooking the Place Sainte-Marthe to discover their selection of house wines. 75cl bottles start at 20€. The wines pair perfectly with the tapas and salads. You can come all week long to enjoy the friendly atmosphere of this place. The bar opens at 9:00 am during the week and at 10:00 on weekends. It stays open every day until 2:00 am for the benefit of night owls.

Moored on the quays of Alma Marceau in the 8th arrondissement, Madamoiselle Mouch welcomes you an atmosphere of the Roaring Twenties. The barge’s flowery decor perfectly matches the house’s menu. “La Courtisane”, “l’Espiègle”, “la Frivole”, “La Malicieuse” and other cocktails with original names are offered starting at 13€. You’ll also find beers and ciders for 7€ on the menu, while you quietly sip your drink and enjoy the superb view of the Eiffel Tower from the patio.  Mademoiselle Mouche offers a DJ set for added ambiance. If you’re hungry, the menu offers fallafel, samosas, poultry meatballs and hot dogs among other dishes.

– Le Jacques Bar at the Hoxton –

 

To see and be seen, you need to go to Le Jacques Bar in the Sentier! Its intimate setting is perfect for relaxing. Nestled in an inner courtyard of the Hoxton Hotel, the establishment serves cocktails starting at 13€, as well as alcoholic beverages ranging from 9€ to 22€. Moroccan-inspired drinks by the glass that you can sip, while you sit comfortably on the bar’s comfy sofas. The patio’s umbrellas provide shade as the sun sets. The bar opens its doors from 6:00 pm every evening and remains open until 1:00 am from Sunday to Wednesday. On Thursday, Friday and Saturday, night owls can stay as late as 2:00 am.

Rooftops: for the view and the ambiance

There are several of these bars in Paris, located in the 4th and 11th arrondissements. While they each offer a different view of the capital, they’re all appreciated for their exceptional panoramic view of Paris.At the Perchoir du Marais, you can enjoy a drink with friends with the Place de la Bastille and the Eiffel Tower in the background. At the Perchoir de Saint-Ambroise, the view over Sacré-Coeur at sunset is perfect for a romantic outing. Both locations have a festive ambiance that’s a bit bohemian. A playful and tropical ambiance can be had during an evening at Mama Shelter in the 20th arrondissement, perfect for relaxing after a busy day. Summer-colored decor along with large hammocks, deck chairs, matresses and umbrellas set the tone.  Foosball and ping pong tables around which regulars gather accentuate the recreational vibe of this establishment. The menu offers ribs, pizza and bar food, which can be served with a beer or a colorful cocktail. Draft beers cost 7.50€. Cocktails start at 12€, and non-alcoholic drinks start at 8€ – enough to satisfy every budget!

– Point Éphémère –

 

The magnificent panoramic view of the Canal Saint-Martin from Point Ephémère can be enjoyed between April and September, when the rooftop is open. It offers a beautiful green space that immediately creates a summer setting. To add a touch of vacation to your evenings, deckchairs are available, and every Monday, open-air movies are shown. Cocktails cost an average of 8€, and beer costs 5.50€ for a half-pint. We like to pair them with snacks and charcuterie boards. The establishment is open from 6:00 pm to 11:00 pm on weekdays. On weekends, you can meet up with friends as early as 3:00 pm.

For a good time with friends on a sunny terrace on the 6th floor of the Philharmonic building, come to La Villette! From there, you’ll have a 360 degree view of Paris. The planted terrace offers Baumann chairs around large tables, and is ideal for group outings Deck chairs are also available to make you feel like you’re on vacation. Beginning at noon, you can come and drink a fresh-squeezed lemonade or choose from our selection of wines. Wines average 30€ a bottle and 5.80€ a glass.

– Le Terrass Hôtel –

 

Also with a rooftop garden, but with Art Deco decor, Le Terrass is the go-to place for having a drink outside in the 18th arrondissement. Overlooking the hill of Montmartre, it offers an exceptional panoramic view over Paris in a chic and relaxed setting. It’s open from 5:00 pm to 11:00 pm, and is perfect for an aperitif or a relaxed dinner under white umbrellas. Straw hats are suggested if you get there early enough to enjoy the sun. Le Terrass serves both cocktails and wine. Plan on an average of 7€ a glass. To go with your beverage, you can order a charcuterie board, starting at 16€.

– Le Jardin Suspendu –

If you’re looking for a place to experience something unique, make an evening of it at the Jardin Suspendu. It’s open between June and September on the 8th floor of a parking garage. It offers a large, 3500m² tree-filled space that combines dining and activities of all sorts, with a magnificent view of the Porte de Versailles. You can choose between three different bars that offer cocktails, beer, wine, champagne, charcuterie boards and a food court. Plan on paying 15€  and up for a charcuterie board. DJ sets regularly animate Le Jardin Suspendu. For an enjoyable time, try their creative workshops, yoga classes or hoopdance. The rooftop is open from Wednesday through Sunday. During the week, it’s open at 6:00 pm. Le Jardin Suspendu closes at midnight Wednesdays and Thursdays, and at 2:00 am on Fridays. Weekend hours are from 2:00 pm to 2:00 am on Saturdays and from noon to 10:00 pm on Sundays.
