Whether they are fans of electronic music or simply curious, over 350,000 show up each year to participate in the Techno Parade. If you also want to shake your moneymaker to some hot beats for a day, then mark your calendar, September 13, destination: Place de la Nation, for the 2014 edition!
An electronic parade
The Techno Parade is an event put on by the association Technopol, a group for lovers of electronic culture. For 16 years now, this event has enabled thousands of people to dance in the middle of the day on the streets of Paris, and to celebrate electronic music. Eleven months of planning later, 150 artists, some twenty floats from around the world, hundreds of volunteers and hundreds of thousands of people come together, to party outside.
Each year, it follows a new route: in 2014, the usual 5-6 kilometer trip will start at Place de la Nation, through République and will finish at the Place de la Bastille, near the Opera. It will be a good walk to take while dancing!
“Freedom, diversity, rhythm”: the promise of a good lineup
With this motto, we can only imagine a first-rate lineup. And rightly so. After Bob Sinclar, Agoria, and DJ Popof, it’s up to French electronic band Dirtyphonics to sponsor the event! With their dupstep, drum’n’bass, rock and electro influences, they are the spokespeople for a fusion of genres, this season’s theme.
As part of the year of France -Vietnam, one of the parade floats, dubbed “Phénix Electriq” is dedicated to Vietnam’s electronic scene, bringing together three Vietnamese artists and three other Franco-Vietnamese artists.
And to prolong the festivities, you can head down to the Docks of Paris for the Dream Nation festival, which its 30 artists and 4 electronic stages, in full swing until the early morning.
