Located in the northern part of Paris, in the 18th Arrondissement, the Marché Saint-Pierre – Saint-Pierre Market – is well known to Parisians. It is the largest collection of stores in the Paris region dedicated to fabrics of all kinds. For many years, department stores like Dreyfus, Reine, and Moline have lorded proudly at the foot of Montmartre. It’s a veritable Alibaba’s cave, spread out over several streets.
To your shopping baskets!
Temple of seamstresses throughout Paris, the Saint-Pierre Market is a true institution on the Parisian landscape. Here, you won’t have any excuse not to find what you need. Instead, the goal is managing to choose from among thousands of fabrics, patterns, materials, and colors available in the various shops. The Saint-Pierre Market is PARADISE for riding the “DIY” trend. Of course, you have to search a little, because the shops are many and the fabrics are extremely varied. But that’s the charm of this unusual part of the neighborhood.
The Flagship Brands
At the Saint-Pierre Market, you will very quickly see that three flagship brands in particular stand out from the other shops. Probably because they take up much space with their (very) many different products. Dreyfus It’s simply immense! 5 floors dedicated to the world of fabrics. A true institution! Here, everything is well organized, the fabrics are tidy and so you can stroll the aisles without having to turn over everything in order to find what you’re looking for. The only thing we could find fault in is that the fabrics just might be a little less original than its neighbors.2 rue Charles Nodier, 18th Arrondissement | Open from Monday to Friday from 10:00 am to 6:30 pm and Saturday until 7:00 pm
Reine A little smaller than its neighbor (and here again, there are still multiple floors), the fabrics are a little fancier, but a bit more expensive as a result. But the selection is equally vast, and you never really manage to see it all. Don’t hesitate to call on the sales staff. Some of them have very good advice to offer.3-5 Place St Pierre, 18th Arrondissement | Open Monday from 2:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Tuesday to Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.| Website (in French)
Moline Mercerie This place probably has the largest selection of creative notions at the Saint-Pierre Market. Here you will find a huge number of products, including buttons, ribbons, braids, laces, creative fabrics or customization material to suit every style and desire! This shop has combines tradition and trendy for over 130 years.2,4,6 rue Livingstone, 18th Arrondissement | Open from Monday to Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Sacré Coupons Our favorite is on the Rue d’Orsel, a tiny shop filled with fabrics of all kinds, some of which are even from Agnès B, Hermes, Yves Saint Laurent, and many more. The stock turns over regularly and the crew in this shop is not stingy on handing out advice. The fabrics are not very expensive, between €5 and €10. In short, this shop is a good tip.4bis rue d’Orsel, 18th Arrondissement | Open from Monday to Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
