Paris is one of the greatest shopping capitals in the world. With its glamorous image, it is packed with bargains, unusual boutiques and luxury shops. But you have to know where to look, as every district has something different to offer.
In the Marais, lots of young trendy fashion designers have their shops, but you can also find the well-established brands too, such as Zadig & Voltaire, American Apparel, Isabelle Marant, Sandro and Maje. There are also lots of charming second-hand clothes shops in these districts, including the concept store Kiloshop, which sells branded clothes and jeans by weight. And, if your diet is going out of the window, you won’t have far to look for a trendy little restaurant or an original brasserie where you can stop for a break.
If you fall into the small budget category and have a thing for recycling, take yourself off to the Montreuil flea market, from Saturdays to Mondays, where you’ll find vintage clothes at unbeatable prices amongst the knick-knacks. Or you could go to Saint-Ouen flea market, which is a gathering of 14 unique markets, and in particular the Marché des Rues, for army surplus and other second-hand clothes shops.
The really chic department stores Les Galeries Lafayette and Le Printemps on the Boulevard Haussmann are the benchmark of Parisian fashion. Why not staying in an apartment near these department stores to quickly drop off your heavy shopping bags before heading to the next shopping area!
You will find the Bazard de l’Hôtel de Ville (BHV) which is a classic department store founded in 1855, the only multi-specialist store for Home-Decorating-Fashion and Leisure in France. In the same district, you can enjoy buying yourself a new wardrobe at affordable prices. Around Rivoli and the Hôtel de ville, the famous brands H&M, Zara, Kookaï, Séphora, Footlocker and Minelli all await you.
Have you come to Paris for a bit of luxury? Fair enough, take a stroll along the Rue Saint-Honoré, Avenue Montaigne and the Avenue des Champs Elysées. That’s where creations by the greatest fashion designers in the world are waiting for you, such as Chanel, Christian Dior, Gucci and Louis Vuitton. The best luxury jewellery brands, Chaumet, Bulgari, Rolex, Tiffany etc, will give you a warm welcome at Place Vendôme and Rue de la Paix.
And finally, if you prefer shopping centres to strolling around town, go to the Châtelet les Halles or the Place d’Italie. There you will find all the fashion brands under the same roof.
